The Healing Power of Breakup Songs

Ah the therapeutic breakup song. Anger, frustration, hurt, and vindication put to music. There are a few songs I've latched on to throughout this experience and this one is the closest to my feelings now. It comes off a little harsher than I'd like ("nothing to salvage anyway" in particular) but I just love the line "So what you say, we give it up and walk away? We're overrated, anyway"

Imogen Heap: Loose Ends

Doing everything by halves,
You got a real flair with excuses
Meeting someone at the bar,
Where loose ends still have uses

It's complicated,
(This time I think it could be)
Triangulated,
(It could be just what we need)
So what you say, we give it up and walk away?
We're overrated, anyway

We're kissing without kissing,
And got it down to a fine art
Love's supposed to keep you young and frisky,
But we grew up and wide apart
Not now, not ever, no… it's never a good time
How will the good times ever roll on?
Comparing photos then and now, now and then,
Just wondering…(wondering) where it all went wrong

It's complicated,
(This time I think it could be)
Triangulated,
(It could be just what we need)
So what d’you say, we give it up and walk away?
Nothing to salvage anyway

Want to, oh, Need to, oh, Try to, oh
None of the above,
Want to, oh, Need to, oh, Try to, oh
None of the above,
Want to, oh, Need to, oh, Try to, oh
None of the above,
Want to, oh, Need to, oh

It's complicated,
(This time I think it could be)
Triangulated,
(It could be just what we need)
So what d’you say, we give it up and walk away?
We're overrated, anyway

It's complicated,
(This time I think it could be)
Triangulated,
(It could be just what we need)
So what d’you say, we give it up and walk away?
nothing to salvage, anyway

I think I've finally turned some sort of corner of acceptance and I feel like I'm moving on. Christy I love you and always will, even if it's not in the way I originally envisioned. Part of the path we walk together in life has separated and branched off but we will always be friends and parents together and for that I'm grateful.

Frustrated (or pissed as all fucking get out)

This is the result of a series of disappointments, a frustrating conversation, and a lot of Apartment 26. It's not as good as I'd pictured it in my head but I see potential with a lot of practice and study. What matters is it was pretty damn therapeutic.

Keeping Busy

The reason I've been a little scarce lately (you're saying "I didn't notice a difference") is I've been pushing myself to draw as much as possible. Below in "things I'd like to accomplish this year" I state I'd like to get published and I have an opportunity if I can complete a project before July 10th.

I'm writing and drawing concepts for this project with every bit of free time I've got. I did take a break to draw my character in a bi-weekly RPG game I play with some friends. Yes, I play a girl and her name is Larene. Once I finish the sketch I'm going to try painting it using my tablet and Painter to practice some techniques I've been learning.

Mutli-Tagged

I guess these have piled up for long enough now, I'll get them all done in one fell swoop.

6 weird things/experiences (Thanks Lemon Blossom):
  1. I have an unholy love of marzipan, that almond paste used on cakes or in German candy bars.
  2. If I'm with a friend and they walk on the opposite side of a pole or post I have to walk back and follow them.
  3. I like Mac and Cheese better the next day after it's been microwaved.
  4. I don't really like ketchup on hamburgers, I prefer Miracle Whip and dijon mustard.
  5. I don't like the word catsup.
  6. I literally take years to complete these things.

Finding Art Again

One of the biggest impacts from my stay at the psych hospital was the re-kindling of my love for art. I'd draw every few months, something small, but I "never had time" to do it.

You never have time for things if you don't make time for them. I'm more than making time for it. It's my driving passion in life now and the only way to get better is to practice every day, with every free moment.

Expect lots of art. Lots.

I've found I can sketch right into my computer now rather than having to scan it in from a piece of paper. That's right, this isn't pencil. I'm trying to design a visually interesting concept for my avatar in Second Life. I don't like this much but it's a start.
